Covestroは20億ユーロ（約2,700億円）を投じ、Spain, TarragonaのMDIプラントを2020年以降に拡張する。
タラゴナ(Tarragona)の同MDIプラント（年産17万トン）は原料の調達等の問題により競争力がないことを理由に2017年中の閉鎖を決定していたが、市況の高騰と原料塩素の調達の目途がついたとして延命措置が取られていた。

今回の投資ではネックとなっていた塩素を内製する電解のプラントを含む大がかりなもので、増設後の生産能力は5万トン増の年産22万トンになるという。
電解装置については2020年末に、MDIの増設については2022年に稼働見込みという。
